Last week, Smash and the Mounted Patrol horses enjoyed some refreshing Kona Ice on a hot Houston day. Smash enjoyed his blue flavored shaved ice with the help of Sylvia (pictured). Smash and the Mounted Patrol horses hope she comes back again!

HPD Bike Relay Team UPDATE
After a week of battling the road and the elements, the HPD Bike Relay Team arrived in San Francisco on Friday, July 1st. These brave men and women pressed through rain, extreme heat temperatures of over 100 degrees, and even had to bypass wildfire!
Nonetheless, they did it all to support those battling a greater challenge. The more than 2,500 miles traveled from Texas, through New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and ending in California, will help benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We know the patients who were the teams' motivation along their journey are so proud of the them, and so is the entire HPD family.

HPD Air Support Team In Action
Our HPD Air Support Team played an integral role in the apprehension of a burglary suspect this week. After the suspect fled on foot from patrol officers into an open field, the Air Support team was able to follow and closely track him. Our pilot, Officer Jeff Serpas, positioned and expertly landed the chopper nearby. This allowed Sergeant Steven Borgstedte to jump from the cabin, capture, and hold the suspect until back-up arrived. It was an extremely successful joint effort.
Check out this interview with Fox News for great footage and more details.
