Are you ready?

I am going to let you in on a little secret. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you probably are either a police officer already or you want to become one.

Are you in shape? Have you been running? How bad do you want to become a Houston police officer?

I am going to give you a huge hint, therefore a huge advantage, a prize if you will, for being a regular reader of this blog. If you are not in shape come the next round of hiring, you will miss out on an opportunity to gain a spot in a future academy class. This is one thing you can do now before you start the application process.

Did I mention running? You should start running now. Then run some more... You should also start practicing your push ups.

The time is NOW, if you want to be ready.

Changes are coming... FYI.

awesome. May I ask what the running requirement is? Is it 1 1/2 miles in 15 minutes?

Be aware that is to continue through the application process, the academy will expect a much better time.

Mike, how many push-ups are required to pass the selection process? Do they expect more in the academy?

You must complete at least 15 to continue in the application process, however the academy requires you to complete at least 25 by graduation. Male or Female, same standard.

I love the academy for everything it has taught me up to this point. When you first get accepted you're excited awaiting the first day. When it starts your life will change slowly to acting and thinking like an officer. When you complete skills (halfway point) then the fun but most important training begins......THE SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES with OFFICER SAFETY for last 2 months. I get chills just thinking about how close we are to finishing. Good Luck to those applicants trying to become apart a Cadet training classes.

CLASS 210....SERVE and DEFEND
