Many careers change throughout ones lifetime. Once you become part of a team, family and institution such as HPD, you won't want to leave. Being a police officer is unlike any career you have had before. The camaraderie is hard to explain unless you experience it for yourself. Class 2o9 will be close forever, and many, if not all, will go on to a long and storied career with HPD.
Six months of hard work, extensive studying and time away from the family is hard to endure at times. Class members of Academy Class 209 completed their academy class on November 30, 2010. The "What did you do?" videos have proven to be very popular not only among my readers, but by the cadets as well. I encourage the cadets to let loose and be themselves for a bit. After all, the hard work paid off and they were about to graduate later that night. These segments often have a touch of humor in them. Class 209 was no exception.
Stay safe 209 and welcome to the family.

LOL...great video! I want to be part of the HPD Family!
That is true, Officer McCoy, people do change career paths in their lifetime. When I was young, I wanted to become a police officer, an NFL football player, a fireman, a doctor, FBI agent, an Army officer, a teacher, and an airline pilot. Throughout the years I did had the thought of becoming a police officer, but was minimal. As I reached 18, I wanted to become an airline pilot, but that plan didn't work for me, because of the circumstances and the high-dollar training. I had gave that plan up for good, when the calling of becoming a police officer came back to me at 20. Observing an HPDCAREER.COM marked Crown Victoria police car gave me idea that we NEED more cops. I look into the website, gather up my credentials and applied. Passed the prescreen and awaiting the next. I'm very happy that I have made the decision to join HPD. You might say I traded silver wings for a silver badge!
Congrats 209!!! So proud of each one of you and glad to have you as part of the BLUE!!
Great to know there is such diversity of cultures and professions withing the HPD community. Please call me ASAP and tell me i made it to the Marchacademy class.... PLEASE!!! :)
