Good Morning

I hope everyone had a nice Fourth of July weekend celebration. Now it's time to run all that barbecue and potato salad off. At least it is ten degrees cooler this morning than it was yesterday.

Hey Officer Mccoy, can HPD officers take their patrol cars home? Thanks!

Officers on patrol do not take the patrol cars home.

Due to the losses of the academies, What happens to the people that are already in the process? Do they stop the backround investigations?

Senior Officer M. McCoy said...

We are still processing applications at this time.

OFC. MCCOY, WILL OUT OF STATE APPLICANTS STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET INTO THE MARCH CLASS DUE TO THE ELEVATED AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS?

Answers to the questions are in order:

You do not need a degree. In fact as long as you have your 60 semester hours you can begin the process. Once you get off of probation, you can finish your degree and let HPD pay for it.

Each time a person fills out an application, we know the date and time. This is the general guideline. Remember though, many people apply but do not meet the criteria or change their minds. I encourage you to apply no matter what.

Out of State applications will be processed, but backgrounds will be started later than locals.
