I am heading to work this morning and the only action I get is like the action Officer Davis mentioned,"Paper Cuts". I am bored. I will apply this afternoon. Nice story, love the blog. I have been looking at it for awhile now and I believe I am ready to make the move.
Great story. Officer Davis will make a great officer.
I just found your blog last night and have gone through all of the months since it was created. It is very informative and humorous. Thanks for creating
it.
great segment.. Officer McCoy, is 207 still getting the bonus? I am shooting for that class and wanted to make sure it's a go..
Class 207 will get the hiring incentive.
Generally how long does the background check take?
Depends on the applicant. If you live out of state, it could take longer. If you live local and have one employer, it will be shorter. It is hard to put a time frame on a background because each background is unique.
Hi there,
How bad is the competition to become a detective, and how fast can one become a detective in HPD after the probationary period is finished?
Once you patrol for at leat two years after your probationary period, you will be able to apply for an investigative position. However, some divisions require more time on patrol than others.
I have a TCLEOSE license already from HCCS Police Academy. HPD was & still is my first chosen choice. Right after graduation, I've applied with HPD, but was rejected. I'm still willing to work with HPD's diverse agency, but don't know what to do now. I've job searching over a year since graduating the academy, but no one hired me yet.
I really want to become a Houston Police officer!
Please help me senior officer McCoy!
Thanks & God Bless!
