201 Leaves the Nest

Click Play Above

Academy Class 201 graduates tonight at the Houston Police Academy located at 17000 Aldine Westfield. This morning after six months of intense training to become one of the best, the class gave one final roll call. As everyone else got ready for work the proud sounds of Class 201 resonated throughout the academy. I don't care how many times I film this, I still get goose bumps. Way to go 201, make us proud!

I was there last night. I was so proud of these men and women. To put on a uniform and reach into places others will not tread is amazing to me. HPD got brand new soldiers against crime last night to keep us safe while we sleep. Let's not forget that they are wanted and needed. When I hear a noise at night or I am getting robbed at gunpoint, I want them there to protect me. Who would do it? What would this world be without law enforcers? Congratulations 201. Love the blog Officer McCoy. The passion, videos and humor make my day everyday.

My husband graduated last night...I have watched him grow and change in the past 6 months, and I am so proud to be his wife-both last night as he accepted his Top Cadet award, and today, because I know what a wonderful job he will do. :) Thanks for the video, I loved it. :)

How many people usually enter the class and how many graduate in the end? I am from out of the state (Boston, MA)and my interview is in April. I can't wait. Goose pumps all over and butterflies in my stomach just thinking of that day. Long way to go. Wish that it would come sooner. Way to go Houston.

About one or two will drop out throughout the academy. Very few fail out.
