Real German, German Shepherds

video

Click Play Above

You don't realize the true power of a police dog. How many injuries or officers lives have been saved because of the police dog? Some of our police dogs come from, and are initially trained in Germany. Someone recently sent me this video clip of German Shepherd police dogs being trained in France. I was amazed at the quickness and strength of these animals. I think you will be too.

Originating in 1959, the Houston Police Department's K-9 Unit Program is one of the oldest Patrol Divisions on the department. There are currently thirty-nine teams in the K-9 unit which are assigned to various sections throughout the police department. You will notice that our officers will give commands in German dialect. It seems the dogs only speak German.

Don't let our dog Alpos (above) fool you. He's really a sweet boy.

Sorry to hear Alpo's is suffering from cancer. I understand contributions are being made to offset his medical bills. What is the mechanism for making donations to this special cause?
